Home Sweet Home

It is October and the time is flying and today I remembered that we are already 3 weeks living in our new house. We did so much the last weeks that we completely forgotten time, date, season and year. The leaves of the coconut palm tree on the corner of our street are coloring yellow and brown. You should think autumn starts, but on the contrary we still have summer here in Monterrey; temperatures of 30 to 36 degrees top in the afternoon, is marking the weather line each week.

Luckily the rain season seems to be over for a while, but that is only temporary, new hurricanes and showers are dooming up in the east of the Gulf of Mexico. It is just a matter of time when they hit us again. Then you have 2 to 3 days of severe rainy weather followed by sun. In the meantime it still stays hot and with a lot of humidity in Monterrey. Sometimes the humidity reaches 89 % for days, but no rain falls in our region, on the other site you loosing a lot of body fluids as you can imagine. I am sweating a lot and drink 2 to 3 liters purified water a day. You really need a minimum of 2 liters a day, otherwise you can faint and especially with this hot weather can be very dangerous not keeping your body-fluids in balance.

This is good for my diet too, because I also loosing a lot of weight, which is a nice side effect. On the other hand we never miss a “fiesta” at home, especially at the weekends and so, once or twice a week, we drinking one bottle of beer. Only one bottle a week (sometimes two and a half) to avoid the bad habits...

BIERTJE! Here I am with my favorite of the week, its not the best but it is the finest to get sleepy and it is cheap (as you know what I mean) It’s tasting good and they call it here “caguamon” and it’s a 1,20 liter bottle, the brand is Carta Blanca. “lekker biertje” ... I can tell and recommend you.

In the meantime my boy has a lot of fun with his new bedroom, since he is out of the “chamber” we shared with my wife and him for almost 5 weeks, he is out of control. All the time he and us did not have any privacy, which for us seems to be no problem as so far but after a while you need some privacy, also your son, as you can see on this picture.

He is so happy with his new room and bed that he wants to show you everything. Even the baby things he discovered in a box and wanted to be re-installed again. He is such a “schattepop” and talking very good Spanish already. He is making a lot of progress on school and has a lot of friends here and daily he is playing with the children from the neighborhood.

He has a lot of fun and we are happy that he finally has a surrounding he can play a lot. Especially due to the nice weather we have, they always outside and protected by somebody. Here he wants to say “hello” to everybody he knows in Holland…

We do a lot outside because with this nice weather we can go daily to a park or to the cultural Forum which is now in Monterrey till December. Its super nice and very big, they also now opened the new paseo the Santa Lucia which is a artificial river true Monterrey and reaches from the parks till the center of the city of Monterrey.

Weekly there are fireworks and big shows on the macro plaza or in the park de Fundidora. These trips cost you nothing and the nice thing is that we live next to the parks, so we can walk easily till the parks by foot. All these things are for free and with the nice weather …ach what should I tell?

Here my wife, Rafael and I are watching a show of the Vietnamese puppet theater in water. Very funny and the woman in the background with the umbrella is only using the umbrella to protect herself for the sun. (Not the rain hahaha) As you can see we have our quality time back again and have a lot of fun during the weekends. Finally home….sweet home…

Thnx:) for postings and the good commentaries I received, Nice you like the pictures. And thnx:) to all that send greetings to us, we are not forgetting you all… keep posting the good stuff, hasta luego muchachos

Hey Rolf,

Nu dat e.e.a. m.b.t. het huis in place is en je wat meer tijd heb om om je heen te kijken komt natuurlijk de onvermijderlijke vraag: heb je al VW spijlbussen gespot in Mexico?

All the best!

Hey Rolf,
